1. Create a ‘blog’ section on your website

Blogs are an excellent way to update the content on your website consistently. Google ranks websites that are updated higher than those which remain static. Help Google chooses you over competitors by creating a blog and regularly posting good quality content.

2. Research how people search

You might think you explain a legal term well, but is that what your potential clients are searching for? Go to Google, search for a word, then scroll to the very bottom of the page. Look at the “related searches” area and see where you can improve or add keywords to your website.

3. Review your writing and re-write your pages to be more personable

If your pages only talk about “we” and “our firm” you are missing a chance to connect with your audience. Pull in new clients by connecting their problem with how you can help remove that problem from their lives.

4. Add “Follow Us on Social Media” buttons to your site

This sends outbound links to your social media sites and improves your overall linking in the eyes of Google. The more people you have following your social media sites, the more eyes you can reach organically (that means less paid advertising is needed).

5. Add “Share this on Social Media” to your pages (specifically your blog)

There are a large number of WordPress plugins and apps to choose from (such as SumoMe and AddThis). Adding this function allows your readers to quickly and easily share your content to their social media pages, boosting your authority & links.

6. Post a portion of your content from your blog onto your Company Pages

By posting a short snippet of content and a link back to your site for people to read more, you are gaining authority links (LinkedIn and Facebook are High Authority sites) back to your website, increasing your site and page authority.

7. Choose vivid imagery to add to your site

People connect with images in a way they don’t with words. Choose images that evoke emotion and help tell your story. What story do your current blog or website images tell?

8. Offer Free content

Nothing works better to get people in the door (and on your mailing list) than by offering free, quality, helpful content. Offer an eBook download in exchange for their name and email address. Only do this, however, if you are providing quality content – this is not the place for a sales pitch.

9. Write your meta descriptions for each page of your website

Meta descriptions tell the search engines (and people doing the searching) the pages subject matter. Describe the page, use keywords, and use action verbs to draw people in and make them want to click on your page.

10. Add your website to local directories

Local citations are places where your company’s name, address, and phone number appear. There are more local directories than the Yellow Pages. Add your site and information to link these directories to your site to help people find you.
