We’ve been a little quiet for a while
In 2014, we started Business for Lawyers, having spent the nine previous years as a Business Coach working across many industries.
I finally followed my advice and found my niche, and as Seth Godin calls it, my tribe.
Lawyers and I were a natural fit. We worked well together for the next five years. I was particularly proud of our quarterly Think Day program, which enabled non-competing law firms to come together for a day to learn, collaborate and, most importantly, think. The long terms results of these sessions were game-changing.
Individual results were also particularly encouraging. Working with lawyers to identify their tribe and find their voice saw a dramatic improvement in the size and shape of their business. We introduced new strategies and processes, and it was a pleasure to see law firms grow.
In 1994, I became a partner in a sailing business that morphed into Explore Whitsundays. In 2018, I was tasked with running a team of 40 people when my business partner of twenty years retired. This 24/7 business became my life. Our clients were predominately from the UK and Europe. When COVID-19 hit, we were at the pointy end; our company stopped overnight.
Over the next two emotionally draining years, it took everything I’d learned from helping other businesses to keep our business afloat. What worked before was now irrelevant. Innovation became key. The good news is that we survived.
I started writing a book called ‘Don’t do nothing’ during this time. It’s about making better business decisions and focusing on the issues owners face daily in their businesses. It will launch in March 23.
I was still working with a few long-standing lawyer clients, which also helped us.
In late 2022, we decided to sell the yachts and close the business. A challenging decision after more than a quarter century. I was itching to get back to coaching and mentoring.
I am relaunching Business for Lawyers in February 2023.
Marketing will be a crucial component of our offering, and we will concentrate on the Client Journey, encompassing every aspect of marketing, sales, and service.
We have added a new program named The Better Tomorrow Plan. We will work with law firms that seek growth and want measurable success.
For those new to us, welcome and thanks for your interest. If you’ve worked with us before and want to reignite your passion for your law firm, please get in touch.
